MKO Studio was born from the idea to help Chicago productions, prop, set decorating, and art departments find easier access to quality, clearable graphics for their projects. What started as an ‘a la carte’ idea has quickly evolved into the website seen here, with ready-to-go options that are made to look and feel real. The owner of MKO Studio comes from a film and production background, has worked in prop, set dressing, paint, and art departments for 13 years and has been a graphic designer for over 10 years, with more than 60 credits to his name. After being routinely been tasked with created many of the items found online, the idea came to make a service that is easy to supply co-workers and productions with ‘stock’ items that looked and felt real. Propmasters and set decorators that would come to work in Chicago, always remarked at the professionalism and attention to detail, and when returning home would continue to utilize his services. Thus, MKO Studio was born.

Although located in Chicago, MKO Studio has the ability to supply your project with graphic props in any state. In addition to the stock items listed in the website, MKO Studio is always accepting custom requests and new projects. Period or vintage work is approached with an attention to detail and research to maintain historical accuracy. Currently, this is a boutique operation, but growing every day.

If it can’t be made by us, we’ll find someone who can. And as always, attention to detail, above all else.

Clearances

MKO Studio has designed a stock library with clearances in mind. In today’s every-evolving world of legal clearances for film and television, every effort is made to insure that the products available here can meet legal clearance standards for your production. However, each production and legal department has different rules and requirements, so please reach out if you have questions. MKO Studio will happily sign any legal release or waiver needed, and will work with your clearance department if information, or adjustments are needed. All images and materials are created using licensed fonts, cleared stock images (Istock) and backup is maintained for legal review. In most instances, fonts are either Monotype or Adobe libraries.

In our experience, It’s best to start the legal process as quickly as possible, so please reach out if you know that there’s something you’d like to use.

Shipping

Items can be shipped using Fedex or UPS, but our account may not have as good of a rate as your production.

Local Pickup (Chicago Area)

MKO Studio is located 8 minutes from Cinespace, and 14 minutes from Chicago Studio City. As this is a boutique operation, there is no business with regular hours. Delivery can be arranged, and weekend pickups usually are available. Located near Wicker Park.

Custom Requests

In between normal working hours and other projects, if there’s something you’re looking for that you don’t see here… please reach out. Custom requests are always welcome and encouraged.

Turn Around Times

No two requests are the same, and deadlines can change. MKO Studio works on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will make every attempt to provide realistic turnaround times to meet even the strictest of deadlines. Most of the stock labels featured on this website are loaded into the printer, and ready-to-print as needed. In an effort to not be wasteful, and also mindful of environmental impact, items are sometimes printed same-day, on request.

Quotes / Pricing

MKO Studio strives be as budget-friendly as possible for your production, but given supply chain issues, Covid-19 delays, and ever-changing deadlines… having quotes listed on the website isn’t something that makes a lot of sense yet. Please reach out, and a quote will be supplied depending on your requests.

Do you have….?

Chances, are, probably. Turns it out it takes a lot longer to build a website with quality mockups then anticipated. But the website does grow every week, with new items as they are ready. If there’s something custom that you don’t see here, chances are, it’s in our library or we can make it for you.
